We’re looking for a friendly, practical and welcoming person to join us for the 2026 season and experience a summer on Bryher in the Isles of Scilly.
We’re a small, family-run campsite on the tiny island of Bryher, 30 miles off the coast of Cornwall. With wide ocean views, generous green fields and a relaxed, easy-going atmosphere, our campsite is a much-loved base for exploring the islands.
This is a chance to immerse yourself in life on a close-knit island, meet guests from all walks of life and discover a truly special – and still little-known – corner of the UK. There’s plenty of time off to make the most of it too: swimming in clear water, walking coastal paths, trying your hand at watersports or simply enjoying Bryher’s quiet, beautiful beaches at the end of the day.

The Role
At the heart of the job is welcoming our guests. You’ll meet and greet arrivals, drive the tractor and trailer to transport luggage to and from the quay, and be both the first and last impression of the campsite. A warm smile, a steady hand on the wheel and a helpful approach go a long way here.
Beyond guest arrivals and departures, you’ll turn your hand to the day-to-day running of the campsite: cleaning facilities, grass and hedge cutting, refuse disposal, painting and general property maintenance. It’s practical, varied work – and no two days are quite the same.
We’re looking for someone enthusiastic and adaptable, happy to muck in with whatever needs doing. You’ll need to work well as part of a small team, but also confidently on your own, particularly when meeting boats and managing arrivals independently. Excellent timekeeping is essential, as you’ll often be working to boat schedules.
The role is part-time, with hours that vary throughout the season. In the quieter months of May and September, shifts may be just a couple of hours on some days; during the height of summer, you can expect busier days of eight hours or more. We usually ask you to work six days a week in the shoulder periods and 5 days a week in the summer.
And the best reward? Time to explore the Isles of Scilly – five inhabited islands and countless uninhabited islets set 30 miles off the Cornish coast. Whether it’s swimming in clear water, walking empty paths or simply watching the light change over the sea, this is a job that leaves space to enjoy the beautiful Isles of Scilly.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone to join us from late April to early September 2026. Please note: unfortunately, we’re unable to consider applications from those who can only commit to part of this period.
Essential qualities and experience:
-
Friendly, welcoming and with excellent spoken English – you’ll be the first and last face our guests see
-
Excellent timekeeping and reliability, particularly when working to boat schedules
-
A full UK driving licence (experience with tractors and trailers is helpful, but not essential). Please note we cannot accept provisional licence holders or those who have not yet passed their test
-
Physically fit and capable of lifting and transporting luggage
-
Able to work well within a small team, while also confident working independently
-
Happy to take on practical, hands-on work – from driving and lifting to grass cutting, maintenance and cleaning (experience with tools such as strimmers or hedge trimmers is useful, but not essential)
-
Aged 18 or over
Above all, we’re looking for someone positive, adaptable and ready to embrace a busy, outdoors lifestyle on a small island.
Pay & Accommodation
Accommodation is a camping pitch on the campsite itself. Our seasonal team often say this is one of the highlights of the job – living on site, becoming part of the rhythm of the campsite and sharing in the social side of island life. You’ll quickly become a familiar face to our guests and an important part of our small, family-run business.
If you have your own tent, we recommend bringing it, though we may be able to provide one if needed.
We pay the National Living Wage. With few temptations beyond the sea and sky, it can be a great opportunity to save towards future plans – or simply to fund a memorable summer exploring the Isles of Scilly.
We also cover your return travel between Penzance and the Isles of Scilly on the Scillonian ferry, provided you complete the full season.
For those keen to earn a little extra, there is often casual work available on the island, from gardening to bar shifts, although campsite responsibilities must always take priority, and your hours with us will vary from day to day.
How to Apply
To apply, please email us your CV along with a covering letter telling us a little about yourself and why you feel you’d be a great fit for the role.
If you’d like to know more before applying, we’re always happy to answer questions – whether about the job itself or what it’s really like to spend a summer living on the beautiful Isles of Scilly.
